What a week guys! It has flown by in a blur of set painting, washing brushes and dancing about to teenage-music at a dance event we attend, through work, every year (although there was a particularly funny few minutes when Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline' came on and many of the kids didn't know what hit them as all the teachers suddenly burst into song!). Aside from that chaos there has been little time for anything else. Thankfully though, I am almost over the strange illness that took me over last week and have started to feel a lot more human again.

Despite work being the prominent feature this week, there is always something to be grateful for...

1. A small, tiredness induced treat. On my way home from work last night I bought a cheeky bar of galaxy to enjoy that evening with a cup of tea. Having done a 19 hour work day the previous day I was so exhausted and it felt like heaven to taste chocolate! I then promptly fell asleep on the sofa :-)

2. I finally have something I can make smoothies in! Hurrah! Thanks to my lovely mum and dad we now own a blender-ey type appliance, which I am very excited to try out later (once we have got some food in the house!). There will be no stopping me from throwing all kinds of things in there and trying to re-invent the wheel I am sure! Green juices will be mine, mwah-ha-haaaa!

3. Last week I discovered the illustrator, Holly Exley, has a YouTube channel and I cannot stop watching it. I am so inspired by her videos; they are so humble and easy to watch and all sorts of inspiring. I am kind of addicted to watching creative vlogs these days so if you have an suggestions please let me know in the comments.

4. Joe informed me this morning that he has pre-ordered the Star Wars DVD ahead of its April release. I love having a geeky husband (and I mean that in a really good way!).

5. I received a lovely parcel full of water-colour paper and sketch pads this week from Cass Art. I had forgotten I placed and order but nothing beats opening a box of fresh, lovely paper. That may sound like the saddest thing ever, but art materials are my 'thing', you know?!

In other news:
It is almost the school Easter break! I am working through some of it but am super psyched to have some time to continue on my little creative business mission! /  I am going to start posting more bits and bobs on my business Instagram as I develop it. If you want to follow along, you can find it by searching @leaflanestudio on the app! / In a few days a little post I did in conjunction with the home-ware company Wayfair will be out on their site! I will let you know via social media when it has gone up - I hope you like it! / Michelle, from Life Outside London, put this post up today and it made my chuckle! Love that woman / I have been daydreaming about Easter eggs, big time.

I hope you have had a super-dooooper week! Come and have a chat in the comments if you fancy!

Last weekend the sun came out, I mean, properly came out! It was warm and Gizmo was stretched out in her favourite spot in the garden (usually reserved for the summer). Although I was still full to the brim with cold virus and feeling pretty lousy, Joe and I had our usual weekend housework marathon (him downstairs and me upstairs). I got a little carried away and found myself throwing things in several carrier bags, charity shop / rubbish / recycling bin etc, but also I began feeling that little pull towards a spring refresh that I get every year when the temperature lifts enough to allow the windows to be opened for an hour or two.

Spurred on by too many lemsips and fresh air I decided to put together a wishlist for the three most in-need rooms in our house and thought I would share them with you!

1:: Glass bauble air-plant hanger from Not on the Highstreet | I am trying to inject a bit more greenery into our home at the moment as it can instantly jazz up a usually dark spot and I love these little air-plants!
2:: Moon poster from The National Anthem on Etsy | Joe and I are space geeks and when I saw this print I thought it would fit above our bed perfectly.
3:: Ikea Hermine throw | We like our bedroom to be mostly white/off-white but I would like to add in a touch of soft colour through throws and cushions.
4:: Ikea Isunda cushion cover | Having just said I want to add colour I picked a grey cushion...oops!
5:: Ikea white Hemnes chest of drawers | This range from Ikea is one of my favourites it is such good quality and classic in its style. I think we both really want to get a better chest of drawers asap!
6:: The White Company white lavender candle | Because... well, lavender candles rock!

1:: Dream Big cushion from Next | Right now our lounge cushions are in a bit of a state so new ones are required and this positive one is perfect to remind me of my hopes and dreams :-)
2:: Marks and Spencers Bantry weave cushion | Good old M & S cushions are classics!
3:: Plant from Waitrose garden | We currently have a lonely plant in our lounge who very much needs a best friend.
4:: Marks and Spencers Bradshaw side table | They do these tables in a range of colours but I adore this white one.
5:: Copper Dream-Team print from Etsy | I'm back to pulling in green colour palettes again and thought this would compliment the cushions and the plants!
6:: Moss-knit blanket from H & M Home | We have wanted a cosy throw to add to our sofa, for colder evenings, for a while (but we'd need to keep it away from the cat of course!).
7:: Bronx floor lamp from Made.com | This lamp has to be my favourite pick by far. I love it!

1:: Spring meadow cup from Marks and Spencers | If you looked in our 'mugs' cupboard you will see a mish-mash of designs, but I have no florals and am really into them at the moment, maybe it is because I am painting them a lot. Also, I really enjoy a cuppa from a mug without a saucer, call me strange...!
2:: Wooden box (used for post!) from H & M Home (herbs from garden centre/supermarket!) | Every time I buy (or grow) herbs, they have no where to 'live' so I thought a box, like this one from H & M, would be ideal, plus it compliments the countryside-feel I like in our kitchen.
3:: Magnetic clipboard from Amazon | Joe and I are not great at synchronising diaries and I keep meaning to sort out something for the fridge door so we can see what we have coming up and are not relying on one of us remembering. This magnetic clipboard is perfect for holding any calendar!
4:: Printable calendar from Etsy shop Digital Art | This year I printed a calendar from Etsy and I have it in my office, but this one, with space to write in what is happening, is perfect for us. It is also such a great design for a kitchen!
5:: Round pot planter in wire basket from Wayfair | Rustic pots are adorable and this one, from Wayfair, is super-cute! I can imagine it with little spring bulbs in on the window ledge.
6:: Spring bloom cup from Marks and Spencers | Another floral mug!

Let me know in the comments what you are looking forward to in spring!

It has been one whole week since my birthday already, how is that possible? One week since I drove home from work with a car brimming with flowers and treats and felt super loved and smiley; not that I don't feel like that now, but that's kind of what birthdays should feel like isn't it?

This week has gone by in its usual blur of early starts and work days but the bonus to this week has been getting my little car back from the car-hospital, yay! The insurance is still dragging on (it's been three weeks since the accident) but at least Pedro is fixed now :-)

Today though, as I write this I am stuffing my face with fresh blueberries and drinking more than my usual amount of water as I have a swollen throat and a headache, right when I planned to start my new burst of fitness training...thank you very much who ever is in charge of colds!

It's not all bad though. Here's what I have been super grateful for this week:

1. Seeing beautiful flowers (literally) everywhere in our house. It has felt super spring-like to see bursts of colour and smell narcissus in the air. Flowers make me ridiculously happy.

2. Having a lovely little cuddle on the sofa with Gizmo and falling asleep whilst she does her crackly-purr thing! She always makes a certain noise when she is really comfy and we both enjoyed a little doze together whilst Joe was having a shower. It was the nicest power-nap ever :-)

3. Opening my Mac make-up delivery. Joe got me a voucher for my birthday last week so I delved into my iPhone 'Mac Wishlist' note-page and ordered myself some goodies! I have a stupidly long list of lipsticks I would like in my Mac collection and got myself two this time, plus some beautiful eye-shadows too. I promise I will do a video on my YouTube channel really soon.

4. Thursday night fajitas! I just cannot get enough of the things. Fresh tomatoes, veggies, lettuce, chicken... maybe a bit of cheese too... so delicious.

5. Discovering the blog Wonder Forest's YouTube Channel - she has some really awesome playlists about blogging and more technical things, such as techniques for Photoshop and websites, that I have found so useful.

In other news:
I am about to embark on painting 30 bald-caps to create the illusion of a shaved head. Never let me say my job doesn't have variety #schoollife / Since I turned 35 I have said the following more than once: 'what on Earth is Rhianna singing about, it's awful!' and 'why is Justin Bieber a 'thing' anyway'  and 'if I sit down I don't think I'll get up!' - excellent / I've put myself on a total mini-egg ban until it is actually Easter. Sad times ahead.

Have a fabulous Friday guys!
