Pinterest Inspired New Years Eve Hair and Make Up

With New Years Eve quite literally around the corner I thought I would compile some of my favourite Pinterest pins from the last few weeks to help inspire you for the night of the year when you can get away with going 'all out' glam! I love each and every one of the images below, particularly the beautiful side parted waves look (no:4) and the nude eyes with glossy red lips (no:7) - totally classic.

 photo NYE-Make-Up-and-Hair-ideas_zpsc96d4a01.png
1. Classic Hollywood hair - this full and glossy mane would suit most and is a timeless look / 2. This glittery cat-eye is so pretty. You could use a glitter gel liner or a glitter pigment to achieve this / 3. This Messy up-do is so sexy and effortlessly beautiful / 4. Gorgeous healthy waves with a side parting - so pretty / 5. Add a hint of cranberry to enhance green or hazel eyes - I have a YouTube video using a cranberry shade to create a long-lasting smokey look, check out my YouTube Channel to watch it! / 6. I love this beautiful black and gold eyeliner - adds impact without being over the top - gorgeous! / 7. Stunning statement lip with nude eyes - dewy skin and dewy red lips are one of my favourite things, add glossy waves and you are set!

Sunday Snaps!

 photo 29th-Dec-13_zpsd1c19ca5.png
1. We were hit with some pretty powerful wind and rain here in the South West recently and I had the pleasure of driving on the motorway for a whole hour through it all. Before you ask, no, I did not have my head hanging out the window throughout - this was me walking/getting blown by the wind, from car to front door! (There are much worse pictures!) / 2. This was a gift to Joe from Father Christmas (who else?!) - pretty cool too, well done Santa, you're the best! / 3. Christmas dinner time! You just gotta have crackers! I know they are normally rubbish, but it's a must to feel festive. Plus, where would we all be without the silly paper hat? / 4. Speaking of silly paper hat... / 5. This is me, attempting to look like I know what I am doing playing Guitar Hero Metallica! / 6. Christmas morning family photo. / 7. Post Christmas clean up - green tea time. / 8. We can't have a Sunday Snaps without its most famous resident can we? / 9. A stripey me.

Loving, Needing, Meh! #27

 photo image37_zpsfb37f050.jpeg

This week I have been LOVING:
  • Watching early morning Christmas movies and festive TV! Due to the sickness, mentioned in last weeks 'LNM!' post, we have been up and 'at em' earlier than normal...like, 6am early! It has been somewhat comforting watching all sorts of festive TV. I have even started watching Downton Abbey, something I never thought would pull me in, but thanks to the early starts, feeling poorly and the need to feel all warm and fuzzy, Netflix has come up trumps once again!
  • Festive games! No one can beat a friendly game of Articulate can they. I can almost hear you say '...a friendly game of Articulate? Does that exist?'. I can tell you it does exist, well, for about 10 minutes, before it launches into a high pitched gabble-fest of total nonsense! At least that is me playing the game! If you haven't played it then you must! We also dabbled in 'Masterpieces', a simple, yet fun game, involving trying to guess what is drawn on the card by a toddler - very interesting indeed!
  • My new HD video camera! Father Christmas brought me a lovely new camera to make YouTube a happier place for me and the people who choose to watch my ramblings. Thanks Father Christmas! I am just trying to sort out a memory card and we will be up and running in no time! (Real thanks to mum and dad of course!).
  • Guitar Hero! See above picture for full details! We cracked open the Metallica version of the game on Christmas Eve and sent our eyes loopy watching the screen for well over 2 hours - but it was amazing. I still can't get away from the 'Easy' level, which means poor old Joe has to do that too when, in reality, he is an awesome guitarist, but he suffers along, amused by my tantrums and endless 'this is broken' comments at the guitar (not broken clearly!). Fun really!
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • To stop eating rubbish! Which is starting tomorrow properly! Although I have been pretty good today. All I need is for this cold from hell to go away and then I can be firing on all cylinders again!
This weeks 'MEH!':
  • Cold aside there have been zero 'Meh's' to report this week - it has been fabulous! Happy Christmas everyone!

What's in my bag?

It seems to be a popular one on YouTube, the whole 'What's in my bag' thing. When I thought about recording it I honestly thought 'it really isn't that interesting...I have zero exciting items in my bag!', then I remembered that I am very nosy and like watching these videos, so thought, well, why not! So, here it is in all its YouTube glory...

Because of the sort of week I have had I figured it was best not to try and make up this regular post but instead to write a Happy Christmas post!
This week I have been bound to my duvet with one of the most horrendous viruses I have had since 'The Great Swine Flu' of 2009! (God, that was awful!). Anyhoo...so I don't know whether this has been flu or whatever, but it is terrible and I have been stuck in bed (which NEVER happens!). Hence the lack of content for this post.

Bugs to one side however, I just want to say a huge 'Merry Christmas' to everyone who reads my blog, watches my YouTube Channel and follows me on Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest. I started this blog just as a creative outlet for myself and it is slowly growing and I am really enjoying watching that happen.

Thank you so much for supporting and following and have a lovely Christmas and New Year! (There will be more on here between now and Christmas though so don't go anywhere!)

Lucy

Christmas Make Up Look #1: Bright Lips

On my YouTube Channel this month I am looking at a few festive make up looks to help give you some inspiration for Christmas and the New Year. As you probably already know, I absolutely love make up - so I always find it hard to choose between a bright lipstick or a bit of glitter or maybe a heavier, smoky eye... too difficult to decide sometimes!
 photo image35_zps35b320a4.jpeg
Anyway, I managed to get there for this video at least! Here, I have chosen to show you a bright lipstick with neutral eye-shadow and a simple, flicked out, eyeliner to define the eyes and make them stand out (but not too much!). All the products and posts/videos I mention are listed in the down-bar below my video, so if you are interested in that then head to the video on YouTube to check it out.

Sunday Snaps!

1. Last weekend we took a little jaunt to Salisbury Christmas Market with friends to explore the festive stalls and eat some yummy food. After a wander about we headed to the gorgeous 'Boston Tea Party' in town for a sweet treat or two! / 2. I was going a tad stir-crazy when I was at work at 11pm last Tuesday evening and when I looked at my phone the following day I realised I had taken a whole bunch of photographs of the school Christmas tree, so here is one for you to enjoy too! / 3. As vein as it seems to take a close up image of my own face, what I was actually trying to do, for future make up videos and pictures, is see if you could see my contact lenses on an up-close shot. When I showed this to Joe he said it looked like an album cover...not too sure about that! / 4. I can count on one hand how many glasses of wine I have in one year - this was one of them! / 5. Salisbury city centre by night, I think it looks pretty good, don't you? / 6. Please see the 'Meh!' section of this weeks 'Loving, Needing, Meh!' for the burnt cheese on toast explanation! / 7. On Friday, I took my mum out for a treat (big Birthday alert - can't say how old as she will literally kill me) - anyway, we went to this gorgeous little village pub, with this amazing view! / 8. This Saturday I was working as we were showing a panto - woo hoo! Aladdin came to town and there were screaming children everywhere... / 9. This is me pre-panto, getting in to the festive spirit! (also feeling VERY ill, but making an effort!).

I heart Christmas!

I don't know about you, but I love Christmas just as much at my age as I did when I was a child. It fills me with this magical feeling that only Christmas can. Now that I am older, it is nothing to do with presents, but everything to do with all the little things you do, with the people you love, on the build up to the big day itself.

Don't get me wrong, I love buying presents, and treating the special people in my life, but I love all the other things that come with it too. Here is my 'Christmas Experience Top 10'...

1. Let there be light.
You cannot beat hundreds of white fairy lights around the house. If you can't do it at this time of year, when can you? I usually manage to convince myself to leave some up. This year it will probably be the kitchen ones as that room can be particularly dark, but the lights have just added so much life! They are keepers.
2. Be in the 'market' for festive times.
It is impossible to get through December without going to at least one Christmas market or fair. Even if you do not want to spend any money, get yourself to one anyway, just for the atmosphere alone. Buy a warming glass of mulled wine and slowly wander about. I find them really relaxing and you cannot help but feel in the Christmas spirit after you have spent some time immersed in it all! Also, they are great places to find a unique gift for your special someone.
3. Indulge in some childhood nostalgia.
There is kind of a tradition, in our house, to watch favourite Christmas movies on the build up to Christmas Day. As a kid, my favourite was 'The Muppet Christmas Carol', which we now own on DVD, despite the fact that they play it (and about 50 other versions of 'The Christmas Carol') on TV every year. So far this December Joe and I have watched: 'Home Alone', 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York', 'Elf', 'Nativity' and, a big TV favourite of ours, the 'Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special' (so hilarious!). We still have the muppets to go, as well as Joe's favourite, 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation'. So much to do!
4. Yummy advent!
The simple, yet effective, advent calendar. Enough said. It just has to be done!
5. Get it together.
It is nice to meet up with friends and family at any time of year but I just love friendly get-together's in December. Everyone is winding down for the holidays, mood is high and there is a general light heartedness in the air! When we have friends over we love to indulge in some nice food, a few games (Cranium is a favourite) and maybe even get out the Guitar Hero for some musical fun too! Rock 'n' Roll!
6. Time to reflect.
Turning slightly serious for a wee second... I think that, during this time of year, it is very easy to feel a little low at times, as we realise that another year is coming to a close, and we reflect over what we have done with the 365 days gone by. This year I am on a bit of a mission to keep on the positive, rather than letting myself feel to run down by what has been. I think I am more focused on what I want to do with my new year, rather than feeling disappointed in myself for not doing things this year because I cannot change that. It is done! I think a bit of reflection is a healthy thing, but keep it up beat and positive and don't end up sad on New Years Eve!
7. Pamper time.
Having some time off at Christmas allows for a bit more 'me' time. Without meaning that to sound too self-indulgent it is nice to take an hour, you would not normally spare, to yourself and make yourself feel more... whatever the word is! (Insert appropriate word depending on your mood!).
8. 'Ho, ho, ho... healthier times ahead'.
I know, I know... New Year - fresh, healthy starts etc etc. I try to exercise every week and I try to stay on the healthier side of the food market, however, it always goes slightly off track in December. This is mostly down to the fact that this month is my busiest month of the year, but also just because I am at my most run down and tired. All the good will in the world still sees me reaching for choccie one too many times. During my time off I like to visit the gym a few more times, drink more water and stay on top of my sweet tooth as much as I can. I spend Christmas making some mental 'health-goals' for the New Year ahead and try to break them down into realistic chunks. This way you don't feel like you are letting yourself down if you so not achieve your 'I will run a marathon by April' goal. Instead just say 'I will be able to run one mile, without stopping, by the end of January' (for example!).
9. Have a clear up.
This always helps me mentally prepare for the New Year. I clear out unwanted clothes, tidy up and generally clear any clutter that is in the way. It works for me and empties my thoughts out, making everything feel fresh and ready to go again. Simple, but effective!
10. Good times ahead.
If all of the above hasn't helped you to feel a bit more festive and ready for the New Year then why not plan something for the spring that you can look forward too. I am realistic about this, as we rarely have spare money laying about, but even if it is a few pounds in a jar per week, then plan a treat or shopping trip. If you have a bit more, why not book a weekend away or a holiday. I find it makes things so much easier, going into a New Year, when you have something to look forward to on the other side. Something to work towards...go on, you know you want too!

Loving, Needing, Meh! #25

 photo dec-12th_zps6cc3b6d5.png
This week I have been LOVING:
  • A bit of late night Christmas shopping - oh yeah! I was staying at home with my mum and dad for a couple of nights this week and had to drop my mum off at a little Christmas 'do' so thought it only right that I skipped off to Marks and Spencer to do a bit of 'browsing' for pressies. I really enjoyed wandering about later in the evening actually, it felt kind of magical to me. I accidentally brought a new handbag too. I have buyers remorse though because this is not the time of year to treat yourself is it? Just as I was about to put it back I bumped in to someone I know who swiftly informed me that every Christmas she buys herself a present and wraps it up, 'from Santa', as a treat for herself for getting through the year. Not being one to trample other peoples traditions I jumped on board. Happy Christmas Lucy, have a handbag! (In my defense I have one handbag, which my best friend brought me over 4 years ago and is looking a bit old now - so, to sum up...I have a new one!)
  • This week I finally got to meet my besties first born, little Janey-Anne. I had a little cuddle too, which was lovely. I have never held a brand new and shiny baby before and immediately thought I would squish her by accident, but you'll be happy to hear that she is in one piece! Gorgeous little bean!
  • My new audio book. Because I have a little bit of a trek to work these days I sometimes get a bit bored of the radio, so I downloaded a book that, quite frankly, could have gone either way. It is called 'The Power of Now' and is super interesting. I can't possibly do it justice by trying to explain it here, but if you are into the slightly more philosophical read (or listen!) then definitely give it a go. It is full of rather deep and profound ideas, but just thinking about some of the things mentioned really helps put things into perspective.
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • To slow things down a notch. I have booked some time off, over the Christmas holidays, and am going to try and take things in my head back to a 'normal' place. You know what it is like when you are super busy and rushing about, it's as if your brain takes on a life of its own, running a full speed, with whirring thoughts and mental 'to-do' lists whizzing about. If there is a time of year to bring a little re-focus to proceedings, then it is right now. I spoke to someone, fairly recently, about chakra clearing and am seriously thinking of giving it a pop. I know it's not everyone's bag, but I find these things fascinating. I will report back!
This weeks 'MEH'!:
  • This week has been a full of lots of mini-mehs! Get ready... no heating, leaky radiators, VERY burnt cheese on toast, tomato ketchup (brand new and unopened) growing what can only be described as a beard from its cap when we went to open it for the first time, 12 water bottles rolling around outside the front door when the packaging gave up on life, bruised legs from bashing in to various objects, poor Joe taking 5 hours to get home because of a closed road... that'll do for now!

Loving, Needing, Meh! #24

 photo image33_zpsbc9ce3d6.jpeg

This week I have been LOVING:
  • Christmas shopping. I have been like a lunatic online this week, trying to plan and scheme the various Christmas options for certain special people in my life. I have some good things up my festive sleeves!
  • Advent calendars! Despite the fact that I am approaching 33 years on the planet, I have always had an advent calender. Yep, I know, I know, they are for children! But I am here to tell you something... I don't care!! We have Cadbury ones this year and I love it! (no shame!)
  • Vlogmas on YouTube. If you haven't heard of Vlogmas, don't worry, neither had I! I had to use my friend 'Mr Google'. I hate having to Google things... especially when I am involved with YouTube and should know what it is all about! Anyway, Vlogmas is basically a vlog a day throughout December. Many YouTubers are involved, but I am following my beauty bloggers as they go about their lives - I know it isn't for everyone, but I am nosy!
  • Small Christmas Trees. Wow, this is so Christmas themed today! I have brought some tiny trees from Waitrose to brighten up the house a bit. They are real but have tiny silver bits on them too and they are just really cute! They come in little pots with festive patterns on too!
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • More daylight! For various reasons, but mostly because I try to film for my blog and everything looks yellow in the lighting, or it is just too ruddy dark damn it! I don't mind it being winter but I would like to see sun please - especially when I am getting up at 5am.
  • A hair cut. I am starting to resemble a hippy...long flat locks which just need to be adjusted to have a centre parting and I am there. Not a good look.
  • A baby cuddle. My lovely best friend gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a week ago and I cannot wait to cuddle them both. Well done lovely lady xoxo
This weeks 'MEH!':
  • Online ordering. Whilst I mentioned (above) that I have been enjoying ordering online, Boots have given me no end of trouble. So, I changed my address and it all went through, then it tells me it is delivering to an old address. Rather than doing what most good companies do and allow you to change your details, you have to call up and intercept the courier to send it back to base and re-order. Bad enough, given it was their error, not mine, however it did not end there, oh no! When I call to intercept I am informed that they '...cannot do this on this occasion' as my parcel is with Royal Mail and not their other courier. Several arguments and calls later I get a refund. The parcel still went to the old address - what a frigging stupid way of doing things! RARRRR!! (That's better!)

November Favourites

I don't really know where the months are running away to, but here we are again at another 'Favourites' video up on my YouTube Channel - oh my! This month is a variety pack of products I have been enjoying as the weather has turned colder and my skin has turned....well, strange!

I am going to film my 'Top 5' series for every week in December, which will focus on my top 5 skincare, make-up, hair care and nail care picks. The products will mostly be high-street purchases (drugstore) so should cover every budget! I am looking forward to getting them filmed and up, despite my recent battles with winter lighting and my ever failing camera! With a new shiny one being packed onto Santa's sleigh very soon I am sure to look less scary (or maybe more scary, thanks to HD)!

Enough rambling, enjoy my November Favourites - don't forget to subscribe and 'like' the video! Get in tough via the medium of social media too, I would love to chat! (Click on the yellow icons in the right side bar for easy access straight to me!)

Sunday Snaps...on a Monday (oops!)

So, this week has been insane! Craft fairs and work events galore have made me behind my blogging schedule (I have slapped my own wrist don't you worry!) - apologies for the lateness, please forgive me! Here are the newly titles (for one week only!) 'Sunday Snaps...on a Monday!':
 photo 1st-dec_zps087cf779.png
1. My little craft table at this years Salesian College Christmas Market. / 2. This new little reindeer was purchased at the Christmas Fair I organise through work and was created by some of our students to help raise some money - gorgeous little thing! / 3. Joe and I pre Christmas tree putting uppering (yep, that's a phrase!) / 4. 50p each for these knitted snowmen! How cute are they? Not sure where to put them yet so they are living in their heart boat! / 5. Mum brought us this gorgeous wooden snowman from a stall that was next to mine at Salesian College - I felt sorry for him because he has a crack in one side, but he also has the cutest twig nose! / 6. This picture needs no words! / 7. This is Joes 'I'm gunna build my woman a tree' face. / 8. Just like that, it was complete! / 9. I love Christmas! (and all things shiny!).

Loving, Needing, Meh! #23

 photo image31_zpsfca07ad2.jpeg

This week I have been LOVING:
  • Taking part in craft fairs. I have been on the other side of the craft fair table this week, selling my own handmade bits and bobs, sipping mulled wine and generally getting in a festive frame of mind. The trouble is I immediately want to buy everyone else's stock but have to restrain myself before I spend all my takings!
  • The leafy carpet in the garden. Our tree has given up the ghost this week and shed all its beautiful autumn leaves onto the ground. Whilst I am sure it won't look this lovely for long, it looks so amazing right now. I feel like running outside and jumping about in them like some kind of lunatic...
  • Hot chocolate - trying not to make it a regular occurrence but I certainly can't turn one away on a weekend evening, whilst relaxing in front of the television - quite a nice bed time comfort too!
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • To stress less. Sometimes I can step outside of myself and I just see myself flapping about everything and anything! It is all with good intention but, really Lucy, get a grip on yourself!
This weeks MEH!:
  • It has been such a long week (hence this post is up on a Sunday, not a Friday!) and my feet are feeling like they have stones under the skin! I got up on Saturday morning and felt like I had been sand papered on the souls! Poor tootsies!

Simple Robin Card 'How-To'

For a couple of years I have been making these robin cards and selling them at craft fairs, to friends and family, and, frankly, anyone who will buy one! Whilst I am not complaining about making a few pence, I thought I would let you all in on the secret because they are really so simple and you can adapt the technique for other things too. I have made baubles and Christmas puddings using this watercolour technique too.

What I love about watercolour is the lack of control you have over where the colour is going to end up. The more water you add the more 'colour bleed' happens and you end up with beautiful puddles of colour that are rich and glossy in places and transparent and matte in others. Here are some pictures to illustrate the various stages I take (written description below!):

 photo robin-cards_zps3a21038e.png
1. Dip your brush in water and paint a watery circle on the card. This allows the card to absorb some water and be ready for the watercolour paint.
2. Add your base colour to the circle of water and brush out two wings on the side (I use a reddy-brown shade) - at this stage I take a dry, bristly brush and flick the ends of the wings to look like feathers.
3. Get another shade (I use a darker brown) and load the brush with water and paint and drop it onto the robin so that the colour 'bleeds' out. If it is looking too full of water just use some kitchen towel to absorb the excess. The idea is to add base tones to the robin to form the main shape.
4. Allow this to dry completely and then repeat process. It is better to add thinner, more transparent layers and let to dry - this way you can see the layers once dry, which I think is beautiful.
5. Wet the middle, tummy, section of the robin and add oranges, reds and darker crimsons to form the red breast. I usually apply two layers, leaving to dry completely in between.
6. When the painting is done you can draw in the beak with coloured pencils or pens or stick on some coloured paper. Finally draw in the eyes and feet and you are done! (For an extra special festive touch why not cut out some red tissue paper or card for a Santa hat and add some cotton wool for the bobble - just for extra cute appeal!)

This is a simple little craft to do with your kids. With the younger ones you could just do some Christmas baubles. Make a large watery circle on some card or thick paper and drop lots of paint on - it will stay inside the circle and create some gorgeous patterns. Once dry add some glitter and hey presto!

If you like this please share the link on Facebook with your friends or on Twitter! I will love you forever!

Loving, Needing, Meh! #22

 photo image30_zps382ee37a.jpeg

This week I have been LOVING:
  • Girls night (on a school night and everything!). It has been a while since I have had a girls night, but Monday saw yummy pizza, garlic bread and maybe some delicious dessert too (maybe....well, definitely!).
  • Exciting baby times! A certain someone in my life is not far from giving birth now (...no, it's not me! It's just bloating there I promise!). I have been on edge all week waiting for news - I can't cope anymore!!
  • A programme on BBC1 called Animal Odd Couples, did you see it? I can't usually watch animal programmes as there is inevitably some sad part and then I cry - a lot! But there were hardly any tear provoking moments in this show. It covers strange and unusual animal friendships which really do tug at the heart strings! You should try and watch it on catch-up this week - amazing!
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • To sort out Christmas! I haven't even thought about what I am getting for who yet - I need to get on top of it - I can't believe it is only a few weeks away - insane. On top of Christmas there are two special birthdays coming up too. Are you all sorted for the festive season?
This weeks 'MEH!':
  • I have been so busy this week that I have had zero time to train regularly and properly plan food. I am mad at myself for that and I know that next week will be the same due to Christmas Fairs and major work happenings. I try and tell myself to just 'do my best' and that is what I will try to do! I just get so frustrated!! I will try and get on top of my health vlogs, over on the Lifestyle Tab once I have gotten over the next 7 days. Bear with me lovely people!

In love with tartan

I think our little trip to Edinburgh sparked a bit of an added interest in tartan in me - I saw so many gorgeous variations and colours and seem to have a bit of a tartan obsession now! I really want to get a few home-ware bits and pieces for the winter (and maybe a scarf too...), it is just so homely and comforting to have about.

Here are a few of the bits I have seen recently:

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eye Shadow - Metallic Pomegranate

I will soon be putting up a 'haul' video on my YouTube Channel showing you guys a few bargains I recently got from Superdrug, including this little gem, the Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in 'Metallic Pomegranate'. I love the  Colour Tattoos anyway, so didn't need converting, but up until I purchased this shade my favourite was 'On and On Bronze' - not anymore!

 photo pomegranate_zpsc8999f39.png

I really like the cranberry look that is in for eyes at the moment, but unfortunately I just look like I have been crying for a week if I attempt it, so I was looking for something a little more subtle and easier (and more practical) to wear. I found this and have fallen in love with it completely. The Colour Tattoo range has amazing longevity and does not budge. They act as amazing bases for your eyes as well as being just as stunning if washed over the eye and left at that, I really adore them.

See me creating a soft, smoky look with this product in the video linked below. If you like the video please head over to my YouTube Channel and hit the 'Subscribe' button to be the first to see all my videos as they are uploaded! I have a special series coming up in December, as well as a few Christmas 'looks' for the festive season. Stay tuned!

1. Trying, but failing, to take a sensible photo for a YouTube video / 2. Autumn is officially here and it has brought the fog! Somehow it still looks gorgeous here though! / 3. A gift from Joe... how cute! They are super fluffy on the inside! Find them HERE! / 4. A very over-worked Gizmo takes a nap / 5. Christmas has come ever so slightly early in our house! These two cuties, from Next, joined us last weekend - we didn't want to wait until December to display them. They are adorable and have individual name tags sewn onto their bottoms! / 6. An attempted 'selfie' with Joe (who appears to be attempting to hide behind my head!) / 7. This Saturday we went to The Odeon cinema in Salisbury to see 'Gravity' - this is the entrance - so impressive huh?! / 8. 3D time!  / 9. Gizmo singing along to 'Planet Rock'!

Loving, Needing, Meh! #21

 photo image29_zpsffbe6027.jpeg

This week I am LOVING:
  • Glittery nails! Yep - Christmas is coming people, don't be shy, get your sparkle on! I still have an awesome one from last year, by Revlon, called 'Facets of Fuchsia', a deep purple glitter, which I add as a top coat over my 'Vixen' polish by the same brand! There are so many out there. Personally, I like them as a top coat or added just to the ring finger for a little understated sparkle. Some of my favourites out now are the Barry M 'Glitter Paints', Nails Inc 'Snowflake' collection and 'Ritzy' by Revlon.
  • My lovely mans music...he has just finished this amazing track, called 'Monomyth: Exodus-Revelation-Return' - sit yourself down with a cuppa to listen to this, it's one to ponder over. Check out his Facebook Page too if you like it.
This week I am NEEDING:
  • To get filming! I have a list of YouTube videos to get on with, including a mixed 'haul', which I am excited to do. Plus there is a series I want to film to go up in December, featuring 'Top 5' products from different catagories...stay tuned for that! I have now seen my new camera that Father Christmas has brought me too, he's good like that, just popped round to check it was the right one - then flew away with it - he's a busy man!
  • What I really need to do right now is get surgically removed from my new, fleecy, spotty pajama bottoms that I got last week from Tescos - they were only £6 and are ridiculously comfortable. I have been throwing them on as soon as I get home from work with a snugly, knitted jumper - that's not style is it?!

'You Beauty Discovery Box' - November Edition

In a post last month I told you about a new beauty box I had subscribed to, called 'You Beauty Discovery Box'. Every month they email you with a menu of products to choose from - you can choose two every month and they will get packed up in a lovely little box and sent to you (along with a couple of surprise extra treats too!).

Each month I will be uploading the 'unpacking' of my monthly beauty box, alongside a mini review of the products (if I have used them), onto my YouTube Channel. To see Octobers video please click HERE!

In this months box I had chosen the following two products:
Oriflame 'Wonder Lash' Mascara (full price £8.45) - I really like this product. I received a full sized version, which is always nice, and it was in good old 'black', can't go wrong! This mascara really does what it says on the tin! It lengthens, adds volume and generally makes your lashes look wonderful! I mention in my video that it didn't hold a curl but that is not as important to me as the mascara not smudging all about my eyes, which it didn't - hoorah! Love this.

Nailberry Nail Polish (worth £13.50 full price) - My box contained the colour 'Nut Cracker' which looks like a dusky pink in the bottle but, when applied, actually comes out more brown than pink. I have to be honest, it is not 'me' but I think it may work with my glitter top coat - I will try it and see! Colour aside, the formula went on well and dried fairly fast, leaving a lovely, glossy nail. They do some other, really pretty shades in the collection, my favourites are 'Strawberry Jam', 'Almond', and 'Grosielle'.

Vegetable Frittata

After seeking some 'what else can I take for lunch' advice from various people, mostly the lovely dudes and dudettes over at Box Bell Fit training centre, I have researched into a few different frittata recipes and combined a few ideas to make this super simple and very adaptable one! Scroll down for recipe!

This recipe really is simple. The basics are that you choose your vegetables, roast them in the oven-where required (mine took 30 minutes), but if you were just having spinach in yours, for example, you just need to wilt it in a pan. Then you whisk up some eggs (I used 8 in mine) - you can add a splash of milk if you want to, some salt and pepper to taste and some cheese to if you like - basically you need enough eggs to cover your veggies!

Once you have poured in the eggs just oven for however long it takes for the eggs to 'set', try not to over cook or it will be too dry. Cut up into portions and you are done! Another idea is to pour the mixture into muffin tins so you already have lunch time portions ready to go.

It really is that easy and you can just add whatever you have in the fridge to the egg mixture.

Enjoy!

Last months favourites...

What products, health, beauty or otherwise, can't you get through the month without? Every month, over on my YouTube Channel I show you what I have been enjoying using throughout the month. Last months video was a mixture of things, as is this months, and includes a few bits and bobs I have started turning to now the weather has cooled down a bit (that is being polite - it is so cold now!)

Mostly, when talking hair, make up and beauty, my blog and YouTube channel is catering for a lower budget, using high-street products and affordable 'dupes' for higher end treats. However, in this video I am using some Liz Earle products. I always repurchase the Hot Cloth Cleanser as it is a miracle product for my skin type, but I saw an offer, and not being one to turn down a bargain, I thought it a perfect opportunity to try some other things, check out what I thought of the products in the video!

If you have tried some ridiculously amazing skincare, hair care or make up products from the high street, that you think I will like too, please get in touch! You can contact me on any of my social media (see yellow icons on the right side bar) or email me on fromlucywithlove@outlook.com! I love hearing from you guys so please get in touch.

Loving, Needing, Meh! #20

 photo image28_zpsc976a490.jpeg

This week I have been LOVING:
  • Creating Christmas 'Wish Lists' online. Naughty, I know, but a girls gotta dream! I have one on the go on Amazon and on Boots - there is just no stopping me 'adding to wishlist', it's like a disease! It's not like I am actually expecting to get these things, it's just a bit of Christmas fun!
  • Horror! When we were in Edinburgh we picked up a couple of super cheap 'horror' films. Neither of them are new, but they are always on TV so late that I fall asleep as soon as they start! We got '28 Days Later' and 'The Hills Have Eyes'. Horrors are one of those genres that, if done well, are amazing, but in the case of most films, they are carbon copies of each other with slightly different scary people in them. You know what I mean... group of college students, no doubt in a camper van, get lost in the middle of nowhere, with no 'cell phone' reception (or any common sense) etc etc.
This week I have been NEEDING:
  • To actually get on with making things for my craft fairs! I sold right out of the collage Christmas cards I made last year as they were all individual and a bit different, as well as those, my robin watercolour cards flew off the stall (no pun intended...makes a change!). I have had zero time but I have no choice as my first fair is just three weeks away people.
This weeks MEH!:
  • If you read my blog regularly or look at my Facebook page (please 'Like' that btw!), you will see that we have a lovely little cat, called Gizmo, who lives somewhere round our road (but we don't actually know where), and comes to visit daily to sleep on the kitchen table on a special towel which is now hers! Well, on Halloween she went out and never came back. It was almost 7 days with no Gizmo, then suddenly, last night, there she was! So the 'Meh!' has now turned into a 'Yeah!'. We were thinking that her real family had moved or something bad had happened, when actually, if logic had kicked in, we should have realised she had just had a holiday! (She looked fatter too so clearly hasn't been outside for a week!) Happiness is restored!

Get Ready With Me: Autumn Update!

During the autumn I really enjoy trying out slightly darker and richer make up looks, smoking up the eyes a little or adding a more striking lipstick to the mix. The look I have done for you in this video is quite a standard autumn/winter make up for me. I enjoy wearing winged eyeliner more this time of year as it lends itself to the romance and drama of the change of the season.

All the products I have used in the video are listed in the description box below the video, but you must view it via my YouTube Channel to access that. Please 'Like' the video and hit the 'Subscribe' button to stay up to date with all my uploads - I would love to see you as a subscriber! If you don't have a YouTube account you should certainly sign up, it is super quick and easy and then you will never miss a video by any of your favourites!
I hope you liked the video! Please get in touch through any of my social media links (see yellow icons on the right bar!). Come and have a chat!

Loving, Needing, Meh! #19

 photo image26_zps0d4d1824.jpeg

This week I am LOVING:
  • A change of scene. I am completely inspired  by the trip to Edinburgh. I won't waffle on about it because I have mentioned it enough in my other posts, but it has reignited my want to see more. I have always dreamed about taking in the British coast line, with a sketchbook and a good friend for company! It is achievable in small chunks and I think I need to get myself a big old map of the UK and start thinking about where may be next...
  • Wrapping up warm for winter. The temperature in bonny Scotland was noticeably colder, so we had to rush out for a new bobble hat for me to prevent my ears from snapping off! I love the feeling of long, knitted jumpers, fluffy hats and warm boots at this time of year - so snuggly!
This week I am NEEDING:
  • To correspond to my comment above, I am thinking that one of these scratch off UK maps would be a lovely addition on the wall! I love the world map version too.
This weeks 'MEH!':
  • This week it was all about the cancelled flight on Monday morning really - other than that I have zero complaints to report! We were super frustrated that the storm chose the one day in the year we had booked a flight, but such is life huh?!
